Elegant building is the focal point of the town centre. Contains a tourist information office which was small but helpful. The is an exhibition about the town on the first floor, though it consisted of mainly display boards and very few artifacts. Information and organisation were in short supply, but some of the historic maps and pictures were interesting.
Used for a variety of different types of functions at different times of the year, this is a big historic building. Having survived a van bomb which obliterated the shops on the other side in 1991, it's worth a look to see if you can see any damage at all... It was said at the time that the roof was raised a few inches before falling back into place! In more recent times it is open during office hours housing the town's tourist information centre. Toilets are also available which are slightly less grim than those in Park Street. There are (at least) two floors in this building accessible to the public. There is a large hall upstairs which can host theatrical performances or be used as a venue for selling bric-a-brac depending what's on at the time.Perhaps it would be wrong to review the town hall without mentioning it's caretaker who has become a local celebrity in his own right through his Christmas sit-outs in order to raise money for Zomba. If you want to know more about that, ask Davy!
amusing
Tourist information is well laid out, helpful staff. Everything you need to know about the local area and beyond. Nice building with very decorative stained glass windows.
